Another great match for this team! Our serving percentage was over 93%, with only 3 errors out of 47 serves. Harper led the team with 10 serves, 4 of which were aces (including an ace to win the match!).
This was our second set in a row with 11 total kills, and our defense was strong with 46 digs. Dig leaders were: Morgan with 11, Harper with 10, and Sophie with 8.
We'll be working on some position training at practice today, and tomorrow we travel to Dickson for an away game.
If you can't make it tomorrow, please reply or text and let me know.
Thanks!

a week agoNeeds for Tonight and Tomorrow
We still need a Libero Tracker for the MSV, HSJV, and HSV games tonight. Tomorrow night, we need a Libero Tracker for MSV and HSV games. This job is not as challenging as it sounds and is much easier because of the proximity to the scorebook keeper. It is a REQUIREMENT that we have a libero tracker at every home game, so please sign up on Crossbar or let one of the team parents know if you are available, so you can get credit for your volunteer hours. Also, there is still time to contribute to the team “extras” (primarily fun gifts for coaches and players). The suggested contribution is $25 per player (Venmo @Julie-Biancheri, Zelle at 615.306.8135, or cash/check handed to one of the team parents).
Thanks all – it takes all of us to ensure the season goes well for our girls! Go Knights!!

Congrats on another great match! We won the first set (25-15), dropped the second (13-25), and convincingly took the third (15-4).
The team's strong serving was a major factor in the win, and we were led by Sophie going a perfect 18-for-18 from the line, including 4 aces.
Our offense was also strong last night, with five players contributing 3 kills each (Hannah, Morgan, Gabi, Briggs, and Abigail).
The defense was led by Lily and Sophie, who each had 7 digs.
We're back in action at home on Monday. Have a great weekend!

FCS came back from a tight first set to take the next two, led by solid defense from Harper Richardson (17 digs) and consistent serving from Alexa Biancheri (11 serves). Richardson also contributed 5 aces. Abigail Bingham led the team in kills, and Morgan Cortner was the assist leader.
Great job to everyone! I'm so proud of the way the girls stayed positive, kept the energy HIGH, and fought back after a tough first set.
This year I'm going to attempt to keep our record updated on MaxPreps. You can follow the team here: https://www.maxpreps.com/tn/franklin/fra...
More fun tomorrow at Lancaster--if you can't make it, just shoot me a reply to let me know so I can plan our lineups.
Thanks!

3 weeks agoTravel Options
Thank you for filling out the travel survey! I am hoping to send out an update each week as I look at the teams we're playing to give you an idea of playing time/expectations. My policy is to try to get everyone in for all JV games, even if it's just for a few balls. But we do play a few teams that are a much higher level of competition, and I want to strike a balance to make sure time on the court is actually helpful to a player. So if I don't feel a player is quite ready for a certain opponent, I will exercise caution in that instance.
I recognize that some of our games are quite a distance to travel, so if you ever want to ask about playing time as you're making the decision of whether or not to drive almost to KY or AL :), just shoot me a text or email and I will try to give you an accurate indication of what to expect.
The good news is that we have SO MANY games this year, and there's a variety of competitive levels, so I'm excited to see every athlete get significant time on the court.
For today, I told the girls my plan is to play everyone. Depending on how we stack up against this team, that time on the court may be a few balls or an entire rotation around the court. If you're not able to come today, just let me know so I can plan accordingly.
It is a complete joy to coach this team. They love each other so well, and as you'll soon find out, they have a lot of energy :)

a month agoHi, JV Parents!
I'm so excited about these team of young women! They've already proven they are team players of high character, and I'm looking forward to getting to know them better this year.
We will start going over rotations today, and I know there may be a learning curve for some of our players. Please encourage them to ask questions...I sometimes overlook things or am not clear enough in my communication. I don't want to cause any confusion or frustration, so please have them reach out for any help!
We have a Team Builder/Worship Night tomorrow (Tuesday) after practice along with the Varsity team at the Allens' home (305 Breckenridge Rd). We will end practice by 6:30 and head that way. I'm happy to take 3 players with me if you need assistance getting them there. We will have pizza and snacks, will spend some time in worship and prayer, and will probably do some swimming as well. So please send your daughter to practice with swim stuff.
If you can send $5 to cover dinner, that would be great. Cash or Venmo (@catherine-parks-24) works.
Finally, if you haven't yet, please download the Crossbar app--it makes it much easier to keep up with the schedule, especially if anything changes. And we sometimes send messages through that instead of email.
Please reach out with any questions, and thank you for the honor of coaching your girls!

4 days agoGame Recap - DCA 2, FCS 0
Last night was a tough loss, with both sets going to 22-25. I'm so proud of the way our team played, even through a tough call at the end of the match. We talked after the game about how officials aren't perfect and they face a lot of pressure, so we can extend grace (and if you saw my face, you know that wasn't easy for me to do in the moment :)). One of our captains, Hannah, reminded us that we have an opportunity to show the love of Jesus to the other team even in defeat, and I'm thankful that this is the heart of this team.
Games like that make us better volleyball players, and I'm so proud of the way our girls played. We had our highest number of digs, and we were just 3 attacks shy of our season record, which was impressive for a 2-set match. This means both our offense and defense were running well. When we play a team that sends a lot of tips and free balls over, especially on the second contact, it can be easy to slip into that mode and do the same thing. But we are committed to helping these girls learn good volleyball, and I'm proud of the way we played our game and adapted to defend what the other team was doing and put together some strong attacks.
Enjoy the long weekend, and we'll be back in the gym for a home game against Lancaster on Tuesday!

PS - One of our players is missing a warm-up shirt. If you ended up with an extra, please let me know. Thanks!
